I’m honored to announce I’ll be delivering the Howard R. Marsh Lecture at the University of Michigan next month.
Unfortunately my work is more timely than ever, as we’re witnessing a rapidly-accelerating crackdown on civil liberties and press freedoms under the Trump administration.
In my lecture—”From Protester to ‘Terrorist’: The Mechanisms of State Repression—I will discuss both historical and contemporary attempts to criminalize dissent, and what we can expect moving forward.
Hope to see you all there!

This is excellent lecturing and programming but why only Michigan?? Please consider having a NYC event . Also we (sane) people have all been talking about bridging the gap btw the ill-informed nation of Trump supporters and climate deniers and have come to the conclusion that we need to find a platform and style in which to reach out to a largely rural un educated population who’s only source of information is the internet and FOX so I encourage you to try to reach areas that don’t know any better. Otherwise you are simply singing to the choir .
Best regards, I think you are wonderful,
Tracy
Hi Will, Great to have discovered you and the work you are doing to expose the repression of political/environmental activists. Is your lecture going to be filmed? It would be really helpful to be able to share it with a much wider audience than will be able to get to your talk. Please let me know as I would love to share it more widely.
Yes, it should be! I’ll post when available.
Thanks!
